Re: Dumfries missing link.....
David! I hope this may reach you! This is Jenny Blain here, I'm at your cousin Margaret's and we were just talking about you and McNaughts and Kilgours, and I went online to see if I could find a tree for a relative of Margaret who's been asking about her family... Do you have an updated tree that I...

Re: Blain family Greenock .....
That is very interesting. What is the date on the postmark? I couldn't make it out...
My Blains in Greenock were not the only ones there, but it is intriguing and I'd be very interested to learn more on this. Also, Ardgowan Street rings a bell.

Hi Barbara. The ship list is imaged at http://immigrantships.net/jacobite/graphics/goodspeed17160714_source.jpg - you probably already have this. However, it seems to me that there may be some conflation of various 'H White' names happening here - I wouldn't think that the Hugh White son of the Pres...

Re: 1684 OPR Birth Record Help
Hi - I know it's been a while since this was posted - I think the strange word thought to be a contraction of 'sponsors' is just 'W' for 'witnesses' - compare it with the first letter of 'Wm'.
Also 'tua' for two.

Re: Mark Carse of Cockpen
Hi Montrose, Richard Carse (Cas Cass Cars etc) was the father of the first Mark. They are an interesting family - lawyers and burgesses in Edinburgh, and Mark became the agent for Ker of Lothian. They were landowners at Fordell, and then Mark was given Cockpen. His grandson or g-grandson finally sol...
