Re: Moulin cemetery lairs

When North Perthshire Family History Group recorded the stones at Moulin, we assigned our own numbers to the graves that are visible. Some stones are buried. I imagine the writers of the earlier book which recorded pre-1855 inscriptions would have done the same.

Whose grave are you looking for?

Re: Archives to move out of Register Houses?

It would be very sad if this were to happen. The wonderful sense of history all around that pervades these buildings makes researching there a great experience. It would also severely limit access for those of us who use public transport to get to Edinburgh to research. Thomas Thomson House is near ...

Re: Deaths and Burials

Scotlands People (www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk) has deaths for a Joseph Hannigan in Glasgow in 1948, and two for Annie Hannigan between 1940-1944. Have you looked at those? They are outside the dates you mention, but people don't always remember dates correctly.

Re: Scottish Criminal Records

I have found newspaper archives useful in finding all sorts of information, from success at village flower shows to criminal convictions! Search for names of people or places and see what turns up. The archives are still being added to, so it's worth repeating searches from time to time. Some are av...

Re: Researching in England

Have you considered that your great grandmother may not have died where you expected her to be? I have several relatives who for various reasons died away from home and family. You may need to widen your search. Names can be misread and therefore wrongly indexed. Could any of the letters in her name...
