Re: Andersons Of Logie Coldstone
I think that it is likely that john's father was Charles Anderson. There are a couple of John's born to a Charles in Logie Coldstone at around the right time. However it is difficult to decide if either is your John.

Re: Andersons Of Logie Coldstone
OK having seen Duncan in the census for Duncan and Agnes in 1851 I agree it is most likely him. John died before 1851. It's therefore quite difficult to work out when and where. Having said that I have not yet tried the 1841 census. Hope you were still hoping for a reply!

Re: Nettie or Hettie
Nettie could be Annette or even Agnes. Hettie could be Henrietta, as could Nettie. Sure people will have other suggestions.

Re: Dougan (s) burial or death Glasgow?
Is it possible they moved back and forward to Ireland? Though they were both born in Stirlingshire, their names are Irish sounding. Could not see them on the 1851 in Scotland or England.

Re: Real Expert Advice Required
Hi Andy, This is a difficult one, a bit like my putative great grandfather Hermann the German. I would say that you have William Lewis nailed as the Dad on the balance of probabilities but not beyond reasonable doubt. Only you can make the decision on whether or not that is good enough for you but I...

Re: Are You Looking for Graves in Aberdeen City and Shire?
Hi Claire. That is a kind offer. One of the best ways of locating a grave in this area is to search the Aberdeen & NE Scotland Family History Society memorial inscription index. They have not covered all the local graveyards but have done many.

Re: Cinderella Story?
An interesting phenomenon I've noticed is that in the NE illegitimate children are often to be found in the father's family whereas in the West it is most commonly the mother's. Have you found Kenneth's death certificate?
Re: Wilsons
A bit late in spotting this but that looks like some good hunting there, Barclay. Seems as if John may have informally legitimated himself by claiming to have married parents....by no means uncommon.

I always liked the Museum of Childhood. Also on the Royal Mile.
