Re: Aitken's Auction, Edinburgh

I have seen your post. Many thanks. This is terrific stuff. My friend Douglas Aitken is the son of Frank Aitken born 1907. Frank jr was the youngest child of Frank and Jessie. I was asked by the family living in Canada to find out what happened to their grandfather Frank after he left Jessie and the...

Frank & Jessie Aitken Edinburgh

Thanks Muriel,

By 1895 their next child was born at Viewforth, Edinburgh. Would that be a different area of the city than Sciennes Hill Place? Jim

FranK & Jessie Aitken address in Edinburgh 1890's

I'm looking at an Edinburgh address from the 1890's that looks like # 2 Sciennes Hill Place. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct spelling? Thanks, Jim

James Aitchison Aitken

Someone was good enough to give me information from The Scotsman from Feb 5, 1914; James Aitchison Aitken's obituary. It mentions he was to be buried at Newington Cemetery, Edinburgh. By chance does anyone live near there? Thanks, Jim

James & Margaret Aitken

Thanks Lesley,
Yes,,,no clues. Although they lived at St. Cuthberts I haven't been able to find any data base or publications available to look up possible cemeteries they may be buried. Jim

Aitken family

Hi Val,

I'd love to be able to go back a few more generations. James Aitken & Elizabeth Bell from Falkirk that I'm working on certainly must have been from the same neck of the woods. So far I don't see a connection to your people. I'll let you know if I have a break through. Jim

Aitken - cemetery & MI lookup in Edinburgh

James Aitken (b:1790-d: Oct. 2, 1868) and his wife Margaret Aitchison (d: Apr. 6, 1872); both died in Edinburgh and I assume they're buried there. I'm hoping someone can tell me if there is a data base of Edinburgh cemeteries and if I can find an M.I. for them both. Thanks, JIm
