Re: Soutern Necropolis in Glasgow

There is only one Hislop mentioned for the Southern Necropolis on http://www.memento-mori.co.uk/ An Elizabeth, buried 1910 possible married name of York? These are only as mentioned above of legible stones when whoever survyed the place, not an indication that they aren't buried there, or that the e...

Re: David Kirkwood

Good, I knew there just HAD to be some connection.
They are such unusual names!

Re: Stuck on John Dougal

Ah, the family mentioned in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=18720

It sometimes helps to keep things in the one place.

Re: Stuck on John Dougal

Hi DC i think you may need to give us a little more information. where did you find the details of the children and their year/place of birth? Were they born in Lanark town or Lanarkshire? [vast difference as the shire takes in Glasgow too] I'm not seeing any matching births anywhere, and it's too e...

Re: Records of paupers

So, if Ancestry have these digital records hidden away, for those and such as those, where are the actual records?

Would North Lanarkshire council have access to them in their libraries or archives somehow, could be worth finding out.

Re: George Sutherland McKay (Born 6 April 1917, Aberdeen)

I wonder if George was in the Forces in 1939/40 time frame.
Looking at WW11 casualties could help?
What regiment did his Father serve in? The son may well have enlisted there too.

Re: ANONYMOUS records?

Really curious are the marriages of
Unknown Unknown to Unknown Unknown .... in the 1990's :?:

I imagine that's the result of wonderful technology when a couple aren't aware of a parent's name - but nothing should surprise us in the world of genealogy.

ANONYMOUS records?

I've just stumbled upon a birth where the surname is ANONYMOUS I wondered how common this was, and what would be the circumstances surrounding the entry. There seems to be over 1000 cases since 1855. Are they all cases where a newborn has been found dead, or would they also be of children who have s...

Re: David Kirkwood

Interestingly in the 1891 census there is a : Forson David Z H aged 28 living in Dalmellington - he died in Calderhead in 1940. I wonder how he fits into things? The Z in this instance stands for Zerubabbel ! Zerubabbel Forson seems to be a name passed through that family - in various spelling form...
