I suggest you try looking for merely Janet Reid - quite often the middle name did not appear on the b.c. The one that looks most likely, given the d.o.b., is the Janet Reid born in Calton because the certificate number is relatively low.

Re: "Inmate"
Thanks for the replies - I hadn't thought of the Poorhouse. I'll have a look sometime when I'm in Glasgow. I just wish I could find Thomas in 1911, there doesn't seem to be a Thomas McVey (any spelling) in the country at all but he died in 1933 in Glasgow at the same address as he was in 1891. Oh we...

I have a birth certificate from 1907. The child, Isabella, is illegitimate but the certificate is signed by both parents. Isabella was born at 46 Kelvin Street, which was in the Milton registration district. I'm not sure which of the several Kelvin Streets this is. Her parents are given as Thomas Mc...

Re: Just a couple of questions
Q1. Sometimes a couple who were married in one of the "protesting" churches had their marriage recorded in the Parish Register of the Established Church; it enabled them to show that they were "legally" married. I've got a couple of these in my records.

Re: Any suggestions for a mis-index?
Just thought I'd report that I've at last found Alexander's death \:D/ I found one of his daughters m.c in June 1912 showing him as decceased but I had him in the 1911 census so I looked for all Alexander Marshall deaths in 1911 & 1912. There were a number I'd already checked but 1 for an Alexander ...

My tree is private for that very reason. I'm happy to share with valid researchers. One of my friends has 2 trees; they are both private but one is for people she really trusts & has the photos etc & the other is for people she's not sure about & is much more basic.
