Saw Carol's post so looked at the US 1900 census. There were 3 Robert Watson's of the right age born in Scotland (well 3 that were transcribed correctly) The first was Robert S Watson from Utah. I have been through there in temperatures over 110 degrees F (43 Celsius) and one memorable time in a blizzard in January... I recommend late spring for the best view of the country, while there is still a bit of green :) It can be a pretty harsh place - there were a lot of mining towns at one time...

I have a photograph of a gg grandfather taken in Pioche, Nevada. Google tells me this is an "unincorporated community". What does this mean? What is an "Incorporated community"?

Hi Carol There is some name confusion for the children - as you mention. Some of their deaths are more recent so I won't put the details on here - but the last born died under the name Baxter, all the others under Cadenhead.
