Managed to find this - I think this is my family- William Gillan (born c.1825) married Margaret Gillan (born c.1823) in 1846 in Ballyshannon. Between that time and 1855 they came over to Glasgow, Scotland, and settled in the Garngad/ St Rollox district. William died 1879 and was son of Patrick Gilla...

Thanks- Thought I found William Gillan's dc -1879 age 48 st Rollox Glasgow which means he was born 1831 Wife - Margaret father - Patrick mother - Catherine Gallocher or Gallagher but can't find any trace of a Margaret Gillan but then on the 1871 census: William Gillan age 47 which makes his birth da...

I have fullt exploited all 1855 information and later, and have managed to reach back to 1780, but where do I go from here, with no images on the OPR's. i take it I have to leave the comfort of my own home and venture out to Edinburgh or LDS

Yes this is my family, I have Williams bc, it tells me that Margaret and William were married in 1946 in Donegal, but were do I find Irish records to go further back.

Gillan's from donegal .....

Can anyone give me any information on a William Gillan and Margaret Gillan, I think they married in Ballyshannon about 1846,
Gillan was Margaret's maiden name as well as her married name, they later moved to Scotland, Glasgow area
