Re: Liberton Churchyard & Cemetery

Their names are Robert Graham Paterson and Ann Orr Paterson (nee Cruickshanks). From memory, they are almost at the back wall of the cemetery, just up from one of the access roads.

All the best,

Re: Liberton Churchyard & Cemetery

[TS_welcome] and Merry Christmas to you. You have had your work cut out for you pacing up and down Liberton Cemetery - quite steep in parts. I have been there on many occasions, usually to visit my paternal grandparents' grave. They are not on the list at findagrave yet, but I guess are on their way...

Re: 1921 Census

I'm off work for the next couple of days; was already planned. I now know where some of my time [and money] will be going.

Be aware that ScotlandsPeople will be offline for the three hours [6am to 9am] prior to the 1921 census release at 9am on 30-Nov-2022.

All the best,

Re: New Look Scotland's People Site November 2022

My first reaction, is the abbreviated reference No on census pages, makes it impossible to determine family groupings , a feature i probably used more than anything to get as much free info as possible prior to ordering.NUTS! I looked for my paternal grandfather with his brothers and sisters in Edi...

Re: New Look Scotland's People Site November 2022

Another problem has arisen, when searching for just one parish, without selecting the County it gives results for the whole country. ie I chose Oliver in Abercorn and got 7 pages of results, when I chose West Lothian and Abercorn I only got 1 page. I have run a check on that for a small parish - lo...

Re: 1921 Census

When ScotlandsPeople put up their maintenance notice on Facebook, people questioned of this was for the release of the 1921 census. Answer as follows... " We’re making changes to the platform to make the site faster, more secure and more robust. We are due to release records from the 1921 Census bef...

Re: Baby death

Try the opposite approach - input the first name(s) and the year only. That may produce hundreds of results. Sort them by surname and see if it comes up (possibly mis-spelled in the index). Failing that if you know where to expect the birth to have been registered, sort them by RD Name and see if th...

Re: Baby death

So long as there was a 'live' birth, there should be both a birth and a death certificate. In my family tree [my generation], there was a child who survived only 15 hours; born prematurely at home about 2.10am and died at 6pm the same day in the maternity hospital. The birth and death were both regi...
