Auntie won the bandleader at the Bingo
My auntie Eva who brought me up , one the bandleader at the Dennistoun Palais Bingo around 1963, I cant find a newspaper with the story although I have clippings from that time with pictures.. of her with this man who was supposed to do all her shopping , and housework for the day as a prize, load of nonsense he did nothing, it was only a publicity stunt at my aunts expense but she took it in her stride going along with the whole thing that lasted all day.. Id love to see the story, Her name was Eva Brown from Broad st Bridgeton..

Hello Dizzybint,
The Glasgow Herald has been partially digitised by Google News Archive. For the 1960s there appear to be quite a few missing issues. http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=G ... 6&b_mode=2
I can’t see anything about the bingo prize. There appears to be only one mention of the Dennistoun game and that’s on 23 January, 1962. http://news.google.com/archivesearch?q= ... lnav=hist1
Here’s a list of newspaper titles held by the National Library of Scotland. I don’t know how Dennistoun would have fitted into the picture as far as newspaper readership is concerned. http://www.nls.uk/about/partnerships/ne ... itles.html
All the best,
Alan

The Mitchell Library has the Daily Record archives on microfilm - not too sure if the Evening Citizen is on film but they will have the old newspapers.
Either way it would be a long haul if you don't have rough idea of the date though.
Regards,
Annette
