Hello Heather and Welcome to [talkingscot]

I checked the Old Parish Register index on Scotland's People.
there is this couple marrying in Forgandenny :
PITKEATHLY LAURENCE ANNA KERMACK 11/07/1777 Forgandenny,
they are also indexed under Perth Parish as
PITKETHLY & KERMOCH,
so it will be the banns that are noted being called in both party's local parish. presumably a son?

I tried searching using ' PIT*Y ' in just Forgandenny parish:
births gave this interesting one:
PITKAITHLY LAURENCE father NINIAN PITKAITHLY/ M 23/08/1719
[birth or Christening date]

Marriages:
PITKAITHLY LAURENCE ANNA BOWMAN/ 16/06/1748
and
PITKAITHLY NINIAN HELEN SMITH 10/08/1718
no deaths showed up specifically in Forgandenny Parish.

When searching that far back especially with unusual names you really need to be creative with your search terms.

I hope that helps you along the road.
Wilma

Forgandenny didn't record any deaths in their OPRs.

All the best,

Which is why I didn't find any!

However family search has noted that:
Here is a list of the surviving Kirk session records for this parish:
Minutes 1709–1836
Cash Books 1794–1845, 1849–1928
Note: Available at the National Archives of Scotland, Edinburgh, record CH2/161.

The Kirk Session Minutes also contain mortcloth payments that can be used to identify deaths, for example:"10 Oct 1759 By the Cloth on Robert Arnot in Ardargie £1/10", reference CH2/161/3/271

So all is not lost.

One day the Kirk Session records will come online at ScotlandsPeople - it's been one of their longest-made promises.

All the best,
