Can anyone assist me in tracing George and his mother, Agnes Walker Mckay (Nee Walker) after 1931 when they returned to Glasgow after spending 4 years in Canada? Agnes married Donald R Mackay in 1916, but he was killed in WW1 in 1918. George was born at the residence of Donald's parents, 142 Crown Street, Aberdeen but in 1917 Agnes and Donald lived at 69 Carntyne Road, Dennistoun, Glasgow and this address was given when they returned to Glasgow in 1931, departing Montreal in November and arriving in Liverpool. I have looked for a marriage for both George and Agnes and also their deaths but cannot trace either!
Any assistance would be most gratefully received.

Hello,
I didn't have much luck finding them on Ancestry.com, but there is one family tree for a George Sutherland McKay born in 1917 in Aberdeen. Unfortunately, it is a private tree so you would have to contact them by message and ask to see the tree.

They were living at Essex Street in London in 1938.
I saw it days ago but the McNab put me off till I looked at the marriage index on SP.
Search for Agnes McNab Mackay on Ancestry.
Regards,
Annette

Many thanks, I did not look at the London Electoral Rolls, I also found them in 1939 in 20 Ashmore Street, but this residence was vacant according to the 1939 register! I think Agnes may have emigrated to America as I can trace an Agnes Mckay living in New Jersey as a Housekeeper in the 1940 census, but it just states she was a widow, born in Scotland. I cannot trace George in the USA census though.

I wonder if George was in the Forces in 1939/40 time frame.
Looking at WW11 casualties could help?
What regiment did his Father serve in? The son may well have enlisted there too.

Hello,
I have looked at the WW2 casualties and not found him, his father, Donald, served in the Royal Scots. On the CWGC site, Agnes is Agnes Walker Mackay, but on the London Electoral Rolls she is Agnes McNab MacKay! I have also checked to see if George enlisted in the USA but cannot trace him!
Many thanks
