WDYTYA - anybody going?!

Post by Chris Paton » Sat Apr 05, 2008 11:29 am

Hi all,

I'm going to the WDYTYA exhibition over the holiday weekend next month (2-4 MAY), and wondered if anybody else plans to be there? I'll be on the Family History Quest stall for an hour on both the Friday and Saturday, and then a free agent after that to ferret around and see what is up in the world! lol :)

Anyone else coming along?!

Chris

Hi Chris,

I take it this is the event at Grand Hall, Olympia, London.

Yes that's the one - there's also a an archaeology and military history on at the same time, so a busy weekend!

Two special BBC Radio programs were recorded at the WDYTYA exhibition at Olympia, London. They’re a smattering of interviews, this and that, and bits and pieces and quite interesting.

If you didn’t get to see the exhibition now’s your chance to hear it in the background.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for that. I attended and wrote an account of what happened on my own free to access Scottish genealogy news blog, but the link was removed by the moderators for some reason - oh well! For anyone interested, if you visit the experts section at the top, where I advertise, just follow the link on the right hand side, and it will lead to a link showing how to access it.

I discovered a heck of a lot there, including an online database of 14,000 pre-1855 Scottish burials and deaths in the east of Scotland, available through a commercial company, which I am sure many will find of interest, and lots of other info, such as the availability of the online Northern Irish street directories from 1819 to 1900 again at http://proni.aetopia.com/scripts/WebObj ... irectories .

Well worth the visit down south. :)

Hello Chris,

Was this the one you meant?
(blog address edited out by admin)
If so, it was a very interesting read especially the gratuitous tank shot.

I’ll bookmark it for future reference and have a closer look at those links.

Alan

It's a personal motto of mine that you can never take enough gratuitous shots of tanks!!! :)
