Hi Mallog

Like Lesley I have been using Legacy for a while and still find new things. I recently upgraded to the full bells and whistles version and it is another learning process. I too had the same problem you had when I first started using it and I think it was because I wasnt watching what I was doing. Although I still havent found out for sure what I did wrong. I did have a problem when I was trying to arrange separate ged files for my neice and sister and ended up with a stack of duplicates on my file, I still occassionally find and odd one left  So I am still learning about the programme, although it is usually a good easy programme to use. I think the errors I find are "user errors"

First program to come out without these will be a good buy

Thanks Stew and Lesley somehow I thought I might come into it somewhere !

I like the set-up as it allows you to put a lot of stuff in about each person. I've still to learn all the shortcuts though

Also, it is worth going here for a quick read:

Wow! Thanks for that, Bob. I had no idea there were so many software packages out there. Rather mind blowing - I'll think I'll stick with Roots Magic for the moment.

I'd like to put my twopenny worth in and recommend a program I recently discovered called Family Historian 3. This is actually the prog they use on Who Do You Think You Are?.
I have been using Family Tree for a number of years but since my tree went over 1000 found it very cumbersome. I had considered updating to the latest version but came across this about a month ago purely by accident while browsing the web as a link from someone who had used it to create a website of their tree.
I was very impressed when I took a look at the FH3 website and downloaded a demo. Later that same evening I ordered a copy from Amazon (costs £38.99 inc delivery) and have continued to be impressed as I find more and more functionality within it - its great! This is the link to the website if anyone fancies a gander - well worth a look.

Hi All

personally, i use RootsMagic. i have done for about a year and find it easy to use and does most of the things i need it to.

although as others have mentioned there is probably a million other things on it that could be of use to me but i dont know what they are yet!!
