Favour...Anyone use Family Tree Maker?

Post by daj » Mon Apr 20, 2009 5:07 pm

Hi there

Looking for a favour please....I have discovered that I have relation who is working on my mothers side of the family tree in the USA. He is using Family Tree Maker, whereas I use something else.

I asked if he could export it to a GEDCOM format so that I can import the detail into my software, however he has no idea how to do this, and I have never used FTM so can't help him.

If you are using FTM and I sent you the files could you export it to GEDCOM for me?

thanks

Hi David

Tell him to go to Help & then "search for help on" & then key in Gedcom in the "list topics" box. It gives very clear directions (at least in FTM 2005) about how to export files in Gedcom - and has the advantage of being able to be printed off if necessary.

Thanks Muriel, I had found the details on-line on how to do it but when I emailed him he was not sure what he was doing.

And thank you Frances, it worked perfected and I can now open it.

Your help was much appreciated.
