Bromborough and Nehemiah where are you?

Post by emanday » Thu Nov 13, 2008 1:45 am

These people aren't essential bricks in my son-in-law's wall, but they're driving me mad! I know they were born and with names like theirs they should be all too easy to search for, but they're NOT

Bromborough Bush Bird and Nehemiah Bird- I kid you not!

Bromborough Bush Bird was born in Bromborough, Cheshire in 1867, and his older brother, Nehemiah was born in 1865, and his father Nathan Bird worked on a sloop called the Bromborough. The other kids had perfectly ordinary names for the period!

I can't find marriages or deaths for Bromborough or Nehemiah  Grrrrrr

I feel better for getting that off my chest - now to move on? (Who am I kidding!)

Hi Mary and Carol,
There are several user-contributed trees on Ancestry that give Nehemiah's death as 1926 in Bromborough. However, at the moment Ancestry won't bring up the death index in any search, even for Smith  Something is definitely amiss...

Cheers,
Sarah

What can I say?

Do you ladies have any idea how long I have been searching for these two? I tried to think of the kind of mistranscriptions that Ancestry might come up with (this resulted in total imagination overload!)

Ta! Thank you! Gracias! [many-greens]

Hi Mary,

The first search I did was for Bush Bird! I couldn't resist! It actually worked. With names like those, I just had to take a look!

WheeHee!!!!

Some of those trees have solved the puzzle about a missing member of another branch in my son-in-law's family :D

I've been printing off the relevant sections of those trees like a wild woman.
[woohoo]

Now I need to put the [kettle] on.

\:D/ \:D/ So glad you found some relevant info, in spite of Ancestry's current quirks!

It has also confirmed that Nehemiah was a long standing family name, going way back to the 1700's at least.

Poor Bromborough seems to have either been named after the place he was born or after his Dad's sloop called Bromborough.

Just as well it wasn't a wee bit later and his Dad wasn't the driver of the Flying Scotsman
