Irish forums?

Post by littlealison » Thu Jun 23, 2011 4:50 am

Hello to contributors in this section.
Can anyone recommend an Irish forum (Dublin) that's lively and serious about genealogy? I want to search my Irish roots further, and would love to find current relatives. - Alison
Researching:
LITTLE - Scotland, Lancashire, Dublin and South Africa. And Canada.
RITCHIE, BARR - Scotland
ANDREWS, MEMERY, DOWSE and BIRMINGHAM - Dublin
PRICE, JACKSON, ROGERS, ALLEN - N. Wales

http://rootschat.com/ has a lot of Irish pages and several Irish moderators. You should get help there. However like many sites they do have rules on personal details of living persons. You’ll need to bear that in mind.

Depending on how far you want to go in finding living relatives, you could also think about putting an add / article in a local Dublin Newpaper.
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

Tracey, I may investigate the Dublin papers. I suspect it might be expensive.
