Hi All,

See what you can make of Margaret Cuddey's maiden surname. Is it Dolne? Or Dolze? Or something else?

Margaret Cudey's death certificate shows her maiden surname as Doak, as reported to the registrar by son Robert Cudey.

It looks like Dolne to me too.

I think she may have had a brother but unfortunately it doesn't show the mother's name -

Hi , I am a new user to this website and have just seen your posting re Eliza Jane Cuddie. She was my gt gt gt grandmother who married Thomas Howie in 1859. Their son Robert Howie who married Janet McNair was my gt gt grandfather, and their son Thomas Howie b. 1884 who married Mabel Hawkins in 1909 was my gt grandfather. Their daughter Lydia Howie was my father's mother. This part may be of great interest to you.....I have a photocopy of an old photo who I believe to be Eliza Jane Cuddie taken when she was in her 40's/50's. It's hard to tell exactly as people looked much older than their years in those days. My father's cousin was going through some old family photos and found it. On the back it says Great Granny Howie (Eliza Jane Cuddie ?) Unfortunately I cannot be 100% sure that it is her but that is what is written on the photo. If you like I can email you a copy.
