I had similar log in problems with findmypast at one time - perhaps they are using the same security software. This type of security is usually used for subscription sites but is somewhat irrelevant for pay to view - as regardless as to how many times you are logged in you still have to pay. Perhaps they are preparing for subscription options?

I never did resolve the findmypast problem - had to wait for a certain period of time & then it seemed to work - not a very useful solution.

Seems to have resolved itself now. And they emailed the marine death reg I was looking for to me this afternoon, so no harm done. :D

Hope they are planning a subscription based payment scheme, this pay per view malarkey is really limiting my playtime!

Hi All

Had a look at SP when it got back up and running and all seemed ok – liked the new features – had a quick look a selection of my previous searches and images and they appeared to still be there and I was able to view them as before – so far so good. But last night I came across a problem and thought I’d let you know so you can check your previous searches and images and see that all is in order.

Last night I was doing a bit of puddling around and ran some searches using the new forename search (one of my ggg grandfathers has a name which appears to be very uncommon in Scotland - and on previous searches of Scottish census records on Ancestry using his forename - the only instances were himself and other family members down the line). I ran the OPR Births/Baptisms search and he was the only one with that forename, however I noticed that at the side it said “View 5 Credits” instead of saying “View Paid”
Next I went to my “Viewed Images – typed his name in the filter box and got a list of several images – most saying “View” but against his OPR Birth/Baptism and his OPR Banns/Marriage instead of saying “View” it said “No Image”.
I then went to my “Previous Searches” and located the relevant searches I had done way back when I obtained these images years ago. The OPR Banns/ Marriage search showed the image on the list but again had “View 5 Credits” against it instead of “View Paid”. But the OPR Birth/Baptism search stated “This search found no matches” when I opened it instead of having a list. I then checked several more previous searches and previous images and found a large number of OPR Births/Baptisms, quite a lot of OPR Banns/Marriages and a small number of OPR Deaths/Burials were like this also.

I contacted SP about midnight last night about this and thought it might take them some time to reply due to all the new features and changes which must be causing them an increased workload – however just after 10am this morning I got a reply saying that the changes had included an update of all record indexes and that this had caused some problems viewing previously viewed images. I have been advised to give details about the images/searches this has affected and I will be given back credits to enable me to replace the searches and images. At a very quick first count – it appears to be about 366 images and 126 searches that have been affected.

So it might be best to check that you still have “View” beside all your previously viewed images and that your searches still show a list of images to view. I will update you again when I hear any more from SP.

Susan.
