As us Brits are going to bed people the world over are getting up to give it a go it would appear. I think I'm going to give it a day or two before trying again.

They have had to restrict the search dates to 1817 - 1876 because of the high demand

They have restricted access to blocks of 10 years. It's up to you to choose which dates you want.

Doing that has certainly improved access.

Enjoy your searches and more important your finds. :D

Thanks for that. I really should have taken the time to read it properly.

On saying that I am still having trouble accessing things. When I put in a search a number of items are found but when I click on "open article" I get the following error message each time - eRights Error Code-5

Anyone else having the same problem?

Can only suggest that you take a holiday off work or that you retire. :D

The site was easily accessible from about 10.30 am until mid afternoon, then it began to jam up again. Haven't tried it since.

I kept getting the same error so e mailed Scotsman and advised them of it.

Fantastic response. They were back within minutes to tell me it was due to the large response they had. My log in had somehow got into a loop. They sorted it out and told me to try again.

Tried again - still didn't work. E Mailed them again. Again within minutes they were back to me. They said it should be ok this time, but if not, to get in touch immediately.

This time it worked!!!

I found what I was looking for and it is so sad. I had heard, through family chit chat that there had been a drowning on Speyside of a mother and her 4 children.

The whole story is in the Scotsman. Children aged 4,3,2, and 10 months. She threw them all into the River Spey, followed by herself.

God knows what state of mind she was in, pour soul. What a tragedy.

Having read it, I'm not sure now that I should have left it as family chit chat.
