Please see attached circular email............

The future of http://www.scottishdocuments.com
<http://www.scottishdocuments.com/> :

IMPORTANT NOTICE

In October 2004 and January 2005 we wrote to all our existing customers
to keep them up-to-date with the transfer of our Scottish Wills service
to http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. In June 2005 the
ScottishDocuments.com website ceased selling digital images of wills and
testaments and transferred this service to ScotlandsPeople. At that
point we contacted all our customers to notify them that their
ScottishDocuments.com accounts would be accessible until the end of
August 2005, but would thereafter be closed.

Since then, most of our customers have responded to the service transfer
by either:

(a) opting in to the new service, by transferring their accounts to
ScotlandsPeople.gov.uk, along with any images not previously downloaded,
or
(b) downloading any remaining images in their Scottish Documents
accounts.

We are writing now to remind you that your account in the Scottish
Documents website will be closed on 31 August 2005.

If you have opted into the ScotlandsPeople service and transferred
accounts, your ScotlandsPeople account will not be affected and you need
do nothing more.

If you have opted to have your account transferred to ScotlandsPeople
and are still waiting for the transfer to be completed you need do
nothing more. The contents of your ScottishDocuments account will become
available at the beginning of September 2005.

If you have downloaded the images from your Scottish Documents account
you need do nothing more.

If you are one of the few remaining customers who have neither
transferred to ScotlandsPeople nor downloaded the contents of your
account, you now have only a few weeks left to download any images
before your account is closed. If you think you may be in this position,
or are not sure, you should log in to your account on the
ScottishDocuments site (http://www.scottishdocuments.com
<http://www.scottishdocuments.com/> ) as soon as possible and follow the
advice there about downloading or printing images.

ScottishDocuments.com was the first ground-breaking project by SCAN (the
Scottish Archive Network) and the NAS (the National Archives of
Scotland) for the mass digitisation of historical records and delivery
of high-quality yet inexpensive copies of the images by e-commerce. We
will be using the experience gained from running ScottishDocuments.com
between 2002 and 2005 to plan new online digital services for delivery
on the site next year. You can keep up-to-date with changes to this site
and to other sites maintained by SCAN and the NAS by registering for our
email news service on the SCAN website
(http://www.scan.org.uk/whatsnew/register.htm).

Thank you for being a customer with ScottishDocuments.com.

Davie,
I received my email this morning regarding the twelve will's I have there.

I have emailed S Doc's time and again regarding this.
Months ago, when one logged in your were asked if you wanted you will's moved to S.P. and fill out the form underneath. I did this and nothing happened. Time went on and I was having trouble printing them in a manner that could be read. After a lot of emails back and forth they decided to send me a CD of the said will's. That was fine and I thanked them, but when I took the CD to my local Printers and paying yet another $100.00 for the printing I still have a problem reading them because the writing is too amall and they are very dark grey being so old, I understand that also. It is not their fault.
However, I still want my will's trasfered to SP. I paid 60 pounds for them and I would like to go into them and read whenever I want to. I can still do this until the end of the month. Then what?

Now Davie you see why I am asking about a delite button!

Hi Lizzie

I strongly recommend that you respond to the email earlier today in exactly the same terms as your post here, if you have not already done so !!

Please keep us posted in terms of the response.

A B&W only printout of scottishdocuments.com downloads will only ever in my experience be problematic to read and interpret, but a colour printer output, preferably an ink jet printer, if necessary set to high or highest quality output, should, in my experience, produce a readable printout, albeit that some of the vocabulary may be unfamiliar.
