Thank you very much for this. I've been on already and demolished a "brick wall".
Has anyone ever ordered a copy of these documents? I'm just interested in finding out what is in them.

Thanks very much for that Lesley, very useful. I found that one of my lot didn’t die in 1907 after all, she died in 1935, a spinster, with ₤669 1s 10d. She came from a family of spinsters.
All the best,
Alan

Re: Free access National Probate Calendar Ancestry
Andy one of the TS members was kind enough to get a few for me (difficult to buy from o/s with payment by cheque only). The document was the complete will (also codicils if applicable) and usually the first page related to probate - some more useful than others (it would be nice if everyone always named all their children in a will). Most were readable, later ones typed - unlike the earlier ones I have purchased on line from the NA at Kew. I don't think any had a complete inventory (as available for most Scotland wills). One I have is 5 typed pages - another 1 paragraph.steiner wrote:Thank you very much for this. I've been on already and demolished a "brick wall".

Thanks Trish. The entry I found was for administration sadly no will in my case. I was told by the office in Leeds that there is unlikely to be any greater detail - especially addresses which is what I was interested in finding.

For Leeds try searchable BMDs
http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/
You may get address if they died at home via ordering death cert from leeds whatever office covers the district costs £9 with the registration number provided by you
or maybe easier when you have the details order online via GRO
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
other than that if in fairly recent times try voters rolls you can search for free on 192.com
http://www.192.com/
Errol is also good for finding folk 2003-2011
http://www.eroll.co.uk/
sometimes a newspaper search of death notices will give details most libraries now have newspapers online for members including London Times and other old ones
