1843 - "Directory to gentleman's seats, villages etc., in Scotland" (Giving the counties in which they are situated - the post-towns to which they are attached and the name of the resident)

Choose either 'Read online' or 'PDF'.

Fantastic resource!!

The same book and many more directories can be accessed for free through the National Library of Scotland home page at http://www.nls.uk/

As a Scottish resident you can also register with the NLS which gives you access to their licensed collections including the Gale Group 19th century newspapers, Times Archive, Scotsman archive plus many others.

A scottish address is required as the registration is only completed when a letter with the final details is sent out to you.

Had a membership for ages - I think I get too engrossed looking at old maps to check anything else!

Thanks again!
