Anyone know where I can get a copy of the (Glasgow??) Evening Citizen from July 1935?

Hi Ann

As far as I remember, they have copies of the newspaper at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow. Maybe not a great deal of use to you....

Best wishes

Drat! Thought that might be the case. Had hoped someone might've had a secret online link to it! Ah well, will have to go on the to do list for when I can get up there again.

Thanks anyway Lesley.

I'm not sure if it applies to the [Glasgow] Evening Citizen but there's at least one company in the UK offering 'copies' of various newspapers to mark birthdays, i.e. on someone's 60th birthday, for example, to give them a copy from the day they were born.

I have a memory from somewhere that The [Glasgow] Herald offered that service, but then their evening newspaper [now at your local newsagent in the West of Scotland by 8am <Huh?>] is the Evening Times; the Evening Citizen having departed for the great newspaper graveyard in 1974.

That's an idea. Will see if I can find a reputable site. Thanks.

You might be cheaper emailing The Mitchell and asking them how much it would cost to send you a photocopy.

If it's just an article you want details of I could add it to my ever growing list.

I think I'm going to have to set up camp for a couple of days to fulfil all the offers I've made.

I'm on holiday from work later in the month so hopefully I'll get there then.

Regards,
Annette

Annette, you are a darling! It is just an article.

I'll call the Mitchell after the weekend and ask.

If it'll be an arm and a leg, I'll PM you with the details and wait for your next trip up there - will try to find exact date first so you're not trawling through hours of microfiche looking for it!

Thank you so much!

Hello Ann,

I supposed you’ve checked the online Glasgow Herald to see if the story, or whatever, was also carried there? http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=G ... de=2&hl=en

All the best,
Alan

Hi Alan,

I have yes. But it's one specific version of it I want. Thanks for the thought though.
