Hi. My mom was a conductress on the tram out of Keppochhill; are there any records of who worked on that line, photos, etc?

Hi Dennis
Not sure about employee records
You could have a look at this site
http://scottishtransport.org/
You can even google Glasgow trams.
Personally I remember the Clydebank/Dalmuir trams as a wee boy.

Hello Dennis,
It seems that Glasgow Corporation Transport records would be with Glasgow City Archives at the Mitchell Library. I haven’t managed to figure out whether they would have employment records. Maybe you could contact them. http://www.glasgowlife.org.uk/libraries ... /home.aspx
Did your mother work for them during WW2, or was it later. Towards the bottom of this page there’s a picture labeled “Newly appointed GCT Conductresses, taking over the duties of male staff” with what presumably was the uniform at the time. http://glasgowtransport.co.uk/trams.html
I like anything on rails, especially if it’s old. There are some great pictures on the link that Stewie posted. Here’s a video from 1962, the last days of trams in Glasgow. Great stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kO2DmTnXlDA
All the best,
Alan

Yes she worked on the trams for about 2 or so years during the war; it was that or join the women's auxilliary.

That film is great Alan - brought back some memories. My dad worked on the trams when I was born and by all accounts the news that I had arrived safely in to the world was spread by the bells of the trams in Govan.
Dennis - conductress is a bit posh - she would have been known as a Clippie.
Regards,
Annette

What a way to arrive Annette, to the sound of bells ringing throughout the city. Not Church bells, but I reckon that Tram bells would be just as good, or better.
Here’s another goodie, very nicely done.
