David Watson Home, Sterlling

Post by marva » Mon Sep 19, 2005 2:32 am

Can anyone tell me where I can get records from the David Watson Eventide Home, Gargunnock, Sterling? My grandmother died there in 1962. She lived there for quite some time. I used to write her there, but when I wrote to them they replied with a letter that they could not find her ever being there. Is this someone just not wanting to take the time to look or where can I look further?

Looks like it was owned by the Church of Scotland (see http://www.mclarn.freeserve.co.uk/page9.html for source of that info), so you could try writing to their HQ in Edinburgh, - see http://www.churchofscotland.org.uk/directory.htm for contact details.

David,

Thanks so much for the information, quite a bit of interesting reading. I will definately contact the Church and see if I can find anything out.

Hi Marva.

Contacting The Church of Scotland is probably the best answer. They may refer you to The National Library of Scotland. If they don't, try it anyway. I got an immense amount of information from NLS about an aunt of mine who worked for the church.
