Look-up please, Mitchell Newspapers.....

Post by Cathy » Sun Nov 06, 2005 3:25 pm

Hi All,
can anyone do a look-up please?
Seeking newspaper article, said to be front page with photo -
Glasgow Herald or Daily Record, 1958 before April.
Douglas Macfarlane, getting off a train at Glasgow Central, with another man's wife and child.
Its a big ask, but if found, could copy be ordered and sent to me. All costs refunded.

Cathy

I can't help with your look-up as I'm based in Ireland but I also needed help with newspaper articles. In my case I needed help regarding a drowning in Banchory in 1899. The Local Studies section of Aberdeen library did a look up for me and sent me about 6 different articles, from all the local papers. And they didn't even charge! So if you have a problem getting someone to do it for you, I'd recommend trying the local library.

Cathie,

Daily Record website (type Daily Record in Google) gives freephone number (0800 906 609) to obtain Historic Newspapers.

Thanks Tish.
I have just received a reply from Mitchell, and they can't find it.
Maybe I have the wrong date. Hubby's cousin said she remembered the article.
Mother-in -law remembers being taken home from work. She is sure it was before she married in April 1958.

Thanks Mac,
I have emailed three times and never had a reply.
Will try what you suggest.
