Just found out about this forum from the UG minutes on SP. Sorry I missed the beginning. Good to see all the old familiar names and everyone just as helpful and friendly as before
Going into NRH with LFHS tomorrow to try and find my brick walls.

I was in NRH today. There has been a couple of additions to the DIGROS system. The 1871 census went online recently (some time after it went online at ScotlandsPeople). The 1966 to current certificates are now online too. These were viewed by microfiche until very recently. So more can be done without leaving your seat.
(Hopefully the coffee vending machine in the lunch room will be repaired - it was out of order today).
There should be a TalkingScot advertising leaflet on the notice board in the Lunch Room, but it's gone - someone's off with it! We shall need to see about replacing that ASAP.
All the best,
Andrew Paterson

Hello to all
When I was there a few months ago, things looked a bit different from my last visit some years ago. This time I am going along with a few old hands who go every month and hope they can give me a few pointers. There was also a big board displaying the changes they are making to the lay out.
By the way I didn't even know there was a lunch room!!
Thanks Catriona and Andrew for your replies.

The lunch room is not well sign-posted. It is off the rear corridor, behind the dome. No food for sale - bring your own. Drinks vending machine - the usual selection of teas and coffees.Bertha wrote:By the way I didn't even know there was a lunch room!!

One of the rooms that used to be occupied by the spare sets of microfiche.AndrewP wrote:The lunch room is not well sign-posted. It is off the rear corridor, behind the dome.
