Sydney Cemeteries Online

An increasing number of cemeteries are making their burial registers online. Check out the following websites for cemeteries in the Sydney area:

* Rookwood Independent Cemetery - includes Uniting, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist and Wesleyan burials http://www.rookwoodindependent.com.au/index.aspx
* Catholic Cemeteries Board - includes Rookwood Catholic Cemetery, Field of Mars, Liverpool and North Rocks http://www.catholiccemeteries.org.au/

Just to give an idea of the significance of Rookwood Cemetery, it was established in 1867, is about one square mile in area, contains about a million graves and is reputed to be the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the largest in the World.

Rookwood now has much online (not alot of detail but name and date of death seem to be always there)

I think you have to "become a member" to search.
