Greetings again.
There is a P. MCINDOE in NZ who has done some research on family lines, but when last corresponding with him, family research was on the back burner, because of other commitments.
Between us we possibly have material on three Wm McINDOES. The one who married Elizabeth Kirkland SHARP, we can not find evidence for in NZ. However in NZ a Wm McINDOE had a very well respected Dahlia & Rose Nursery at Parnell, Auckland and was involved in the horticultural industry. The [1903] Cyclopedia of NZ profile states he was born and educated in Scotland & England. With Head Gardner experience in England & Ireland before leaving for New Zealand.

I also have 2006 correspondence from a J. ADAM ..Quote –
William McINDOE wrote an important booklet about the cultivation of the grape vine in the 1870s when "head gardener" for Thomas Russell's two properties, The Pah and a house near Myers park. [Auckland NZ] William would have designed the carriage drive at The Pah farm - Monte Cecelia Park - comprised of many Puriri trees that still grow in length of the old carriage drive that ran out to (Queenstown Road) Pah Road. The old entrance gates are still on the road side.
End of quote.
If any of this material is of interest, please PM me, and I will endeavour to hunt out more material from New Zealand resources, for an exchange of info.

Re: NZ - William MCINDOE research.
Greetings again.
I've just been advised by Sue, who has recently returned from a fact finding trip to the UK and Scotland, that she has found records for our Wm McINDOE. The shipping records were indexed as "INDOE" and "City of Adelaide" NOT McIndoe and City of Auckland.
On SP William is registered as dying of Typhus, when resident at 120 Garscube Road, Glasgow in September 1865, shortly after his son Thomas' birth. The widowed Elizabeth MCINDOE, and all her children, arrived in Auckland, NZ, in December 1870 on "The City of Auckland" to be with the rest of her family, who had arrived in 1859 and 1961. It was that census period of 1851 -1861 that had us confused, as to his whereabouts. To confuse matters, there appears to have been two other Wm McINDOE's in NZ about the same time, and the one was/became a high profile nurseryman in the same circles [Clubs/Societies, and shows exhibiting] as Elizabeth's two very successful brothers, John and Humphrey SHARP.
Alan SHARP.
PS. Though I've yet to catch up to Sue, in person, I gather they were very well received, with locals going out of their way to fill them in with local history, whence our forebears came. Thanks for that !

Gee Alan -
Thanks. After I typed the road name, I was not sure I even got the spelling right, and was too lazy to go back to Sue's email, that I had just cleared. Once the cuppa was drunk I had other things to do.
Mrs Wm McINDOE was Elizabeth Kirkland SHARP, my Gt Grand Mother Helen SHARP/SHARP's Sister, so research into that family was not a top priority, there being other's more closely related that did a lot of research trying to find more about him. All descendants that I've spoken to, had no knowledge of him, so it's very pleasing to be able to slowly put pieces together, to share with the greater SHARP family, ex Clydeside.
My Gt Grand Father Wm SHARP having remarried Helen SHARP [a relative] who originally came to New Zealand, to house keep for his ailing [TB] first wife, Jane DUNBAR, and his children.
