Gravestones in South Africa

Post by speleobat2 » Fri Apr 30, 2010 3:08 pm

Hi all,

My cousin in Australia just sent me this link: http://www.eggsa.org/cemetery_list_e.htm

This site is for The Genealogical Society of South Africa. Click on download library which will be highlighted in blue, then click on the picture for Gravestones in South Africa. Scroll down to the maps and click on the city nearest to the location you are interested in or use the Search box top left of the page. If you use the search, you can enter something like Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire and any entry with those words will come up. My cousin found the gravestone for one of our relatives and I just found a Munro that I need to check out.

Good hunting,

Carol :D
Looking for: Clerihew, Longmuir/Longmore, Chalmers, Milne, Barclay in Newhills,
Munro, Cadenhead, Raitt, Ririe/Reary

Hi Carol,

Thanks for posting. What a brilliant site. The best set up I have come across for transcriptions/photos of the actual graves. Unfortunately did not find our William.

Alan SHARP.
