Im stunned to see your responses to my search,and so very grateful as I have spent a fortune on this ,yes I found two robert shanks,s the coal miner is my grt,grt grandmothers husband,Im sorry I missed a grt on my original enquiry.I know they had three children Robert b1874 New Monkland,then came Agnes b 1877 and the last one I have is James b1879 ,before she married Robert Shanks she had an illigitimate son called William he was my grt grandfather b.1870.I have a lot of info on Rankin[e].s thank you so much for your help :P
