Hi Andrew - these are the images we can't open. We know they are there, but they appear to be in a format not able to be opened.

Best wishes
Lesley

** as a general note for anyone placing census pages or certificates in the gallery **

Please upload them in the original TIF format as downloaded from ScotlandsPeople. That format is good for these black and white images. Converting images to other formats almost always results in some loss of quality, or occasionally rendering them unreadable to people without a particular piece of software required to open that format.

All the best,

Hi All.
The images that I downloaded are in very poor condition & almost unreadable.I have again downloaded them, but unfortunatley they are the exact same.
So I am transcribing them to here.
1851 census :-Parish Kirkbean
Name Relation to Head Condition Age Profession Born
William Beattie Head Married 40 Ploughman Kirkmichael
Janet Beattie Wife Married 40 Penpont
Mary Beattie Da 14 Kirkbean
Robert Beattie Son 12 Kirkbean
Janet Beattie Da Scholar 10 Kirkbean
Jane Beattie Da Scholar 8 Kirkbean
William Beattie Son Scholar 5 Kirkbean
Ebenezer Beattie Son 3 Kirkbean
Thomas Beattie Son 1 Mnth Kirkbean
Robert Callendar F I Law 75 Irongray

1861 Census :- Parish Tinwald
Name Relation to Head Condition Age Born
William Beattie Head Married 47 ? Kirkmichael
Janet Beattie Wife Married 47 ? Penpont
Ebenezer Beattie Son Scholar 12 Kirkbean
Thomas Beattie Son Scholar 10 Kirkbean
William Beattie G/Son Scholar 5 Dunscore
Janet Beattie G/Da 11mnth Tinwald

I am sorry that the images are of so poor quality that they cannot be resent & viewed,as I would have like then to be seen in their entirety.

Hope that this may surfice

Hi Andrew.
Duelly noted.
I have transcribed them the best I can.
The originals are of extremely poor quality
