Yup, it is very clearly Jewitt - but there are no Agnes Jewitts on SP - not that that is proof of anything. Does the certificate give any idea who the informant was?

Hi Muriel,
But it was a bit of an inconvenience when the signal was lost every time we walked out the bathroom door!
I agree with you that "Stewart" could be heard as "Jewitt" without much trouble! It is not a common name, but it does exist (I know a woman by that name) No hint as to the informant on the cert, though.
All the best,
Sarah
Well, the--ahem-- seat was really quite comfortable...!Muriel wrote:Love the idea of you crouched in a bathroom with your laptop
I should think so. I don't know why the image was not up. Perhaps they haven't finished entering them all. I got it from Massachusetts Vital Records, 1841-1910 on the New England Historic Genealogical Society website, newenglandancestors.org (the databases require a subscription)Muriel wrote:Will the image of her death be available for someone actually going to the records?

Hi Muriel,
Some more info to throw in the pot, if you don't already have it:
Did you find these in your census search?
Stow, Middlesex County, Massachusetts 1870
Henderson, Joseph, 30, work in Woolen Mill, born Canada
-- Mary A. C., 23, Keeping House, born Scotland
-- Mary E., 2, At Home, born Massachusetts
--William, 4/12, At Home, born Massachusetts
Millbury, Worcester County, Massachusetts 1880
Henderson, Joseph, 39, Curdon (?) Woolen Mill, born Canada
-- Mary A, 33, wife, House Keeping, born Scotland
-- Mary E, 12, daughter, born Massachusetts
--George A, 6, son, born Massachusetts
--Walter E, 1, son, born Massachusetts
I'm not 100% sure of Walter's name
A Joseph H. Henderson died in Springfield in 1896, image not available
Can't find a death for Mary
I think you already have Agnes Ross May for 1900 and 1910?
Death 26 Nov 1893, David C. May, Male, Married, age 48, Asthma heart failure, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Painter, born Canton(?! surely Canada?), Parents Simon May and Elizabeth Crossman, both born in Nova Scotia
And did you find Isabella Ross Danforth in 1880, 1900 & 1910? If not, I've got them.
Cheers,
Sarah

Hi Sarah
Yes, I have the census info for both Isabella & Agnes. The next thing seems to be to chase the children. I see that Isabelle/a is still saying in 1910 that she has 2 living children, so it seems that Flora is still around somewhere but I haven't found her yet. I know all about son Walter.
Agnes also says in 1900 that she has 3 children living, altho' there's only 1 (David, living with her) in 1910. I think I've tracked down the 8 children & there were 2 living with their parents in the 1881 census, Neil (b. 1874) & William B. (b1877).
I've discovered that David, Agnes husband, died just after the census was taken on 6 April 1881 so Agnes was already a widow when she went to the US.
I think Levi Danforth may have died between 1910 & 1913 because in Agnes's Ellis Island papers in 1913 when she's returning from a visit to Scotland, she says she's going to her sister, Mrs Danforth, at 115 Garfield Avenue, Springfield.
I'm afraid the Mary Henderson you found is too young - my Mary was born in 1836 (she's in the OPR for Barony, Glasgow) but thanks for the try. Nevertheless the jigsaw has got a lot of pieces fitted in over the last week or so.
Best wishes
Muriel
