Re: Buchanan search for a generation of children
Sorry not a lot of help but have you ever tried tracing them through census records or are you hoping to find living relatives?
I can see what could be Isabella and family at Dundee in 1901.
Frederick Slater 41 born England
Bella Slater 42 born Sth Mist, Invernessshire (as transcribed)
Fanny Slater 11 born Canada
Frederick Slater 9 born Canada
May Slater 6 born England
Regards,
Annette

Re: Buchanan search for a generation of children
Can't personally help regarding what happened to all the siblings, but there is an old thread on here which will be of interest to you and a dilemma which your list of siblings will certainly help to clear up.

Incidentally, your Angus Buchanan b.1806 was a brother of my ggrandfather, Alexander Buchanan b.1813 whose branch of the family remained largely in Benbecula.
As you know, Angus went to Glasgow and the eldest brother James b.1803 emigrated to Canada along with their father Duncan.
I would be very interested in any further info you have on the ancestry of your gggrandfather.
Regards
John
