macleod of muckairn

still trying to find anything on alexander macleod born muckairn 1868 (illigitimate) my grandfather to a kitty macleod.On his marriage cert.his father was given as malcolm macleod and his mother as catherine mckenzie,previouslymacleod MS macleod (possibly born oban)married church of scotland and on his death cert.his father was given as malcolm macleod,his mother as catherine macleod,subsequently mckenzie,MS macleod. Alexander's certs all tie up;profession age; except on his birth cert which is muckairn on the 1911 census his place of birth he gave as conel ferry,just up the road.
there are no kirk sessions for muckairn during the period of 1863-1869 I just can't find anything on his father malcolm macleod can anyone possibly suggest anywhere else I could look or is it a case of no kirk records tough luck.
