Hi
Can anyone tell me if the above person was killed in action in the 1914 - 1918 war. His parents would have been Robert Howie and Janet Howie (MS McNair).
I seem to recall someone saying someone had been killed in the war but cannot recall his name. Would it be on Scotlands People or do they treat deaths in
wars differently. I do not have any service records. Regards, Caroline

Have you tried a search at Commonwealth War Graves Commission www.cwgc.org and the Scottish National War Graves Memorial www.snwm.org ?

Hello Caroline,
Just a bit of extra info from the newspapers to add to what you’ll find at the sites Lesley mentioned.
The Robert Howie, 3046 in A&SH, who died 16 June 1915, was age 19, and was the only son of Mrs White, 8 Galloway Street, and worked for A. F. Craig & Co.
