Post by willow » Mon Mar 24, 2008 9:26 pm

MY ENQUIRY HERE IS I HAD A GREAT AUNT WHO DIED AT TRUST HOUSE IN PRESTONPANS, SHE DIED IN 1944, AND ON HER DEATH CERT IT SAYS PULMONARY TB AND PREMATURE LABOUR GIVING BIRTH.
WAS THIS PLACE A TB HOSPITAL OR A MATERNITY HOSPITAL, THERE IS NOTHING ON THE NET FOR THIS PLACE AT ALL, AND AFTER SEVERAL ENQUIRIES ELSEWHERE NOTHING HAS COME UP.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE.

Hi Willow,

As far as I can see, Trust House is now a pub better known as The Goth, or more accurately Prestoungrange Gothenburg.

See http://www.prestoungrange.org/gothenbur ... link_a.htm

On reading through that website, it appears that in 1943, the Trust House was sold to CISWO (Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation).

As a guess, during the war years, were inns and the like with rooms to spare taking in patients for rest and recuperation; or like a hospice?

All the best,

AndrewP
