Are You Looking for Graves in Aberdeen City and Shire?

Post by clairemcgillivray » Fri Oct 30, 2015 5:08 pm

Hi everyone,

I've had a great amount of help from you all in the past few weeks, but as I'm so new to this I can't offer much in return like transcribing or a wealth of genealogy knowledge - but I'm hoping I can help in my own little way!

I live in Aberdeen City, so if anyone is looking for graves in Aberdeen City or Shire please comment here and I will do my best to find them and return with pictures / inscriptions for you.

To my knowledge are approximately 220 cemeteries in Aberdeen City and Shire, please see links below - between these lists, most grounds should be covered:

Deceased Online - List of Burial Grounds in Aberdeenshire

Aberdeen City Council - List of Records Held for Cemetaries in Aberdeen City and Shire

Aberdeen City Graveyards

Commonwealth War Graves (enter 'Aberdeen' or 'Aberdeenshire' to find war graves near me)

Hope this helps!
Interested in: McGillivray (Moray and Aberdeenshire), Alexander (Moray and Aberdeenshire), Strathdee (Moray and Banffshire), Williamson (Moray and Ross-shire) among others.

Hi Claire. That is a kind offer. One of the best ways of locating a grave in this area is to search the Aberdeen & NE Scotland Family History Society memorial inscription index. They have not covered all the local graveyards but have done many.

Researching M(a)cKenzie, McCammond, McLachlan, Kerr, Assur, Renton, Redpath, Ferguson, Shedden, Also Oswald, Le/assels/Lascelles, Bonning just for starters
