1841 & 1851 Census returns Greenock

Post by Andy » Tue Nov 29, 2011 6:49 pm

For about an hour I've been trying to get ANY results for Greenock. I started looking for my Cairney lot and got no results. Tested using Stewart and McDonald and still no no results. Jump to 1861 and there are hundreds of results.

Could someone have a wee check please - any common name for Renfrew/Greenock

Thanks

Maybe it's sorted now Andy (if it's Ancestry) as I'm getting lots of Cairneys at Greenock in 1851.

Annette

Later....................but none at SP!! :? There's not a Smith nor Kincaid either.

Thanks to all who checked. The Greenock databases seems to have been up and down like a yo-yo last night, just the 1841 & 1851 tho'.

Thanks again,

Andy

PS Just got a message from Tech Support:

Dear Andy,

Thank you for your email.

Having checked it appears that the records for the 1841 and 1851 Scottish Census for Greenock RD Number at that time 564 are showing under Airdrie, North Lanarkshire instead of Greenock.

Reindexing is planned for the coming months and this will therefore resolve the issue with the records showing in Airdrie incorrectly.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards,
