In 1881. census the couple are indeed living at the same address as is stated on the marriage.

Joseph Hamil, age 14 years, M. born Glasgow, Lanark, Machine Boy,

Arthur Gregory, U. age 28 years, born, Ireland.
Births of two children to parents James Hamill, and Ann O'Neil,
Joseph Hamill, 22/May/1867, High Church, Glasgow,
Margaret Hamill, 26/April/1871, High Church, Glasgow.

1881. census, again 27 Rosemount Strret, Glasgow, Lanark,
James McInally, Head, Gen Lab. M. age 28 years, M. born Ireland,
Jane McInally, Wife. M. age 20 years, F. born Ireland,
Margaret McInally, Daur, 9 Months, F. born Glasgow, Lanark,
Hugh Mooney, Bord. Gen Lab, U. age 60 years, M. born Ireland,
Thomas Murphy, Bord. Gen Lab. W. age 35 years, born Ireland.

Hi Dennis,
Have you looked at any of the other children's birth entries to see what info is given for a marriage? I know you've looked at James's (where it won't be shown) but it should be on the other 3. It would be interesting to see if the date and place are consistent.
Still haven't been to The Mitchell but have the details in my wee book.

Hi Annette;
For the other 3 children the marriage date id given as April 5, 1860 in Glasgow, the 1st two James & Charles it was April 2nd in Glasgow.
The registrar was always Peter Ferguson and the parent always used an 'X' mark.
All were born in High Church, Glasgow; 181 Gargandhill

Just because the marriage certificate refers to the marriage taking place according to the Forms of the Roman Catholic Church doesn't automatically mean that both the groom and bride were lifelong members of the RC Church, however probable that might be.
It could also easily be the case that just the one of the couple was RC, with the other undergoing a period of instruction to join the RC Church in order for the marriage to be conducted by the RC Church.
