In NRH, as almost everything they have is now digitised, you hardly have to leave your seat. If you should need the use of a microfilm or microfiche, you complete a form, and it is brought to you. Each search room has only one or two micrifiche or microfilm readers. You no longer have one per desk - that is no longer needed.
The £10 search is in NRH as it always has been. The ScotlandsPeople Centre (free 2 hour search, including intro talk and tour) is next door in General Register House (home of NAS).
