At last found William Anderson , he died 1907 in the Eastern District Hosp. Mothers maiden name still looks like Halley, he married for a second time to a Mary Ann Campbell or Barr, fast worker, buried his 1st wife Eliz. In August 1892, married 2nd wife Mary-Ann, Sept. 1892. Witnesses were Charles McColl and Mary-Ann McColl

On Williams 2nd mc his parent are listed an John Anderson, ships carpenter, dec and Margaret McColl, previously Anderson, ms Halley,
therefore Margaret must have married again after John Anderson died,
I have found a dc 1880 for a Margaret McColl, age 55, widow of Donald Mcoll, parent Charles Halley and Christine Murray, informant was daughter Mary McColl, but it does not say that Margaret had been married before,
so what are the chances of this being Williams mother? Any comment or suggestions please.

Sorry to ramble on again about this family, but you guys just help me to see the bigger picture.

thanks

Well done in finding William's death entry!!!!!

From the info given Margaret's birth is easy to find.

This looks like her 2nd marriage (although I wonder if she ever married John Anderson).

DONALD MCCOLL

Marriages:
Spouse: MARGARET HALLEY Family
Marriage:
12 MAY 1850 Barony, Lanark, Scotland

Here she is in 1861 at Clyde St, Glasgow-

Margarete McColl 36 b Kincardine, Perthshire
Charles McColl 3
Archibald McColl 8 Mo
Niel Campbell 50

I wouldn't worry too much about 1st husband not being shown on her death entry as he must have died when wee William was quite young.

Regards,
Annette

I'm still convinced the wee William in 1861 and 1851 living with William Anderson from Airth, Stirling is your William.

Elizabeth Anderson 29 Alloa, Clackmannanshire
William Anderson 16 Hemerdon, Perth (ancestry)
John Drumard 1
Magny Taylor 1

He states he was born at Kincardine in 1871 & 1891.

Thanks Annette.
The only thing now is what census is correct. If she Margaret Halley married Gordon McColl in 1950, then it can’t be her in the above 1861 census, or she would be McColl

Hi Sandra,

There is no Margaret in the above household in 1861. :?

This looks like her in 1841 -

Tulliallan
County: Perthshire
Address: Primrose Lane

Name Age
Christian Halley 50
Jean Halley 45
Mart Halley 15

Annette
