That could well be him Rae, his father Thomas was a carter & so was Alex. He didn't marry until 1873 & his parents are at Eastfield in 1871 so a spell with someone else could be possible. Thanks, Muriel

Just thought I'd report that I've at last found Alexander's death \:D/ I found one of his daughters m.c in June 1912 showing him as decceased but I had him in the 1911 census so I looked for all Alexander Marshall deaths in 1911 & 1912. There were a number I'd already checked but 1 for an Alexander aged 60 in Dennistoun looked possible & sure enough there he was. He died, as you might guess, in the Royal Infirmary. It looks as if his son got his age wrong by 10 years (probably by mistake) but never mind - another ](*,) crumbles. Thanks to all who tried to help.

Aso his age wrong by ten years. It makes sense that when the censuses were being filled out it was Alexander doing it so he knew his own age, but clearly his son did not...information on a death certificate can often be incorrect because of what the informant 'thinks' they know. That's why I always go five years +/- at first. Someone here at TS told me to do that a long time ago.

I was also going to let you know about a difficult find of my own. Patrick ? (can't remember now, it was a while ago) died in a certain block of time and I could not find him. Eventually out of sheer desperation I searched for his as name P*k......and I found him indexed as PARTICK!

But, glad you found yours :D
