Great work! i wouldn't know where to start looking for Australian records. Part of me feels he is not the John Beveridge i am looking for. However, stranger things have happened.
It always mentions that he was a native of Dunfermline - which is true, but his family moved to Glasgow between 1841 and 1851. John was born 14/4/1837. He appears on the 1851 census age 15. Although he may still have considered himself a Fifer throughout his life.
His wife Ann and child Jane were also born in Dunfermline - so this is a good place to start. On the LDS I found a child Jean Beveridge b.27/10/1857 in Dunfermline parents John Beveridge and Ann Falconer. Marriage of John and Ann in Dunfermline 12/1/1857. Finally birth of Ann Falconer 30/1/1836 parents Angus Falconer mother Jean Christie.
The marriage and birth dates tie in with the voyage and the father's name Angus on Ann's death details.

There is the chance that John may have returned to Dunfermline after 1851 and met and married Ann then emigrated to Australia.
It made for good reading and well found Alan, Thanks again.

There is an image of the voyage details which gives the parent names. I am having some trouble reading same but think they are

Ann parents Angus and Jane living in Scotland - matching the Ann above.

John parents James and Kate - father dead, mother living in Scotland.

Could they be related - perhaps James(father of John) is a sibling/cousin of George?

Trish,

Sorry for the delay in replying - i have visitors from Scotland staying for a few days.
I looked for a match in LDS and only came up with John Beveridge born 3.7.1833 Dunfermline parents James Beveridge and Katherine Penman.
George did have a brother born 06/10/1795 called James as yet i haven't looked closely at his siblings, you made a good point that he might be a relation. Needs further investigation!

Thanks,

Ailsa
