Apart from the Loch of that name there is no such place as Doon in Ayrshire.
There is, however, a mansion by the name of Doonholm down near the mouth of the River Doon, 3 miles south of the town of Ayr. The associated estate is known as Doonside, in the parish of Maybole.

Thanks Andrew for the reminder. Trying to nut this all out. She really is a mystery. Will go back over all that was said in the other post and write up a list and see how I go. I contacted Sp and it has been said that it is definitely Doon Ayrshire. Obviously the person writing up the Register had a bit of trouble spelling
