Hello Stuart,

I remember only too well how confusing this lot are! The death in Glasgow Central in 1869 of Elizabeth Donnelly (ms McGrath) looks likely to be your Mary. Her address was the same street as daughter's wedding in 1872.

Regards,

John

John,

Thanks again, I don't know how you guy's do it.
Not knowing/getting your mum's name right at your wedding?? I know she was dead but I thought they only got confused with names at the death registrations!! maybe bridal nerves. So we have went from Mary McGraw to Elizabeth McGrath in about an hour. Not downloaded the cert yet but thanks again.

Cheers

Stuart

Jack

I find it crazy when this happens, you just wonder what goes through their minds, alright at the death when things are quite emotional but getting your mum or dad's name wrong I find amazing.

Cheers

Stuart

Remember that to most children Mum/Dad are that!NOT MARY JIMMY OR EBENEZER.Also if there were a lot of Marys say in a family maybe you were known by your middle/baptisimal,confirmation name which might differ to what you have in fact given on official tomes! My Grannies were Peggy & Rose but there Sunday ie official names were Margeret & Rosanna. My Dad was Ian but John on all official documentation but I never heard anybody call him that.So not surprising that children may get their parents names wrong especially in the days when we were not much asked those questions.
