Hi Jean,
Frances W Snedden is the daughter of James and Jane Snedden who Jean gave in the post above regarding the 1881 census. If these are not your people, then please ignore my rambling.
All the best,

Hi Andrew
They are not mine (as far as I know) There are a few Sneddon families in the same area.
Mine were in England in 1881.
This mysterious Francis may fall into place some day.
Mary's death is the most puzzling thing.
Looks like this one will have to go on the back burner for the time being.
Thanks for your help
Jean

Hi All
Death date is now narrowed down to between 1901 and 1913 (Date of one of her son's marriages, she is shown as deceased)
I've tried leaving out the year of birth +/- and the age. I used wildcards like Sh*d*n for the surname and leaving out the maiden name(s)
She would have been too old to emigate and there is no sign of any of the children leaving the country. I checked Ellis Island anyway, just to be on the safe side.
Anyone any ideas?
Jean

Maybe try Canada? 1901 & 1911 census online at:
