You are amazing!! Thanks for all your help again. I have searched the SP webisite for Ellen Pollock's birth. I have tried every spelling of Pollock that I could think of - I never thought to look under Eccles.

Jean - in reply to your previous post, I am not sure when adn where James was definitely born. There are a few James Pollock born in the Ayrshire area in the early to mid 1820s. I was hoping to find his death certificate to identify his parents which would help me find his birth hopefully.

Andy- the people you found on the 1881 census are definitley from the same family. James and Bridget's eldest son together, Robert, married a JAne Shearer. Bernard Pollock is his step-brother who was married to Elizabeth O'Brien.
