It's most likely that your popup blocker is treating the little SP window "This is going to cost you 5 credits, Do you want to proceed 'Yes' or 'No'" as a popup.

Two possibilities, go into your profile in your SP account and change your profile where it asks if you want confirmation or not of a deduction of credits.

If that doesn't work, clear your InterNet Explorer History and Delete Cookies, reboot, check that your popup blocker is definitely off, then retry.

Thanks Davie ...I actually had done exactly what you suggested and it finally worked...seems there was another popup program running which I had no idea about....
ANYWAY:
Andy...
John Jamieson's parents were indeed Alexander Jamieson and Ann Dunlop ...mother was deceased at the time of the marriage ....

Jack.....
John is listed as being a Joiner (journeyman)

Alexander is listed as a Joiner (master)

more after a few hours sleep

Hi Wendy,

Computer owners don't have an easy life! But the nice relaxing family history more than makes up for it....

So the Hat is safe!

The 1841 census should show at least Alexander sr., Alexander jr., Ann, John and perhaps the mother Ann. The daughter, also Ann, died in 1859 aged 19. I suspect that the mother died before 1855. Alexander remarried Jane Boyle in 1860 (he fibbed about his age from then on). In the 1861 census you'll probably find the family around Brisbane Street.

Alexander, the father, died in 1870, listed as 53 he was actually closer to 59.

Alexander, the son who married Elizabeth Clark, died tragically young in 1868, his youngest son would have been one and a half.

There is an outside chance that Alexander's father, Walter, was still alive in 1841 and that he had remarried fairly late in life to Mary McAlpine, Alexander's mother, Margaret Spence and Walter were married in Erskine in 1798 and produced a good few children, including Alexander in 1811 and brother Robert Walter in 1820 (see census above).

As we've seen alot of the Jamiesons lived on Upper Kelly Street which adjoins South Street:

I suspect that Robert was the son of Walter, Alexander and Robert's brother who died in Greenock in 1866 but I'm not 100% sure of this.

If Davie looks in on this thread he may notice that these addresses are very close (IDENTICAL) to our pal Cassie's family in Greenock. The Rodgers and Inglis both stayed at 12 South Street!!!

The family originally lived at Holmscroft Street which adjoins Wellington Street:

Now this was Elizabeth Salmon and this branch of the Jamiesons I refer to as the Thom - Jamiesons. I can't see an immediated link to your family but they live so close there is likely to be a relationship. There was another daughter in this family Elizabeth McAuley Aird Jamieson:

You should have fun trying to work out if there is any relationships.
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).

Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.
